The scope of this document is to provide a preliminary evaluation of the performances of the SURPRISE demonstrator, on the basis of the specifications and preliminary optical design. Specifically, this document includes: a preliminary evaluation of the overall diffraction efficiency of the DMD as a core element of the demonstrator's architecture, by taking into account the specifications of the optical design of the demonstrator; a preliminary evaluation of the signal expected at the detector input for both the VIS-NIR and MWIR channels; for the latter channels in the MWIR, an estimate of the detector's output signal for different models of MWIR detectors is also given. Finally, preliminary image simulations are carried out as an input for the preliminary CS reconstruction algorithms , together with relevant reconstruction results. This document, together with the preliminary design and the reconstruction algorithm , will constitute the basis for the detailed design of the demonstrator and relevant detailed performance evaluation to be carried out in the next phases of the project.
