Modelling Radiotherapy Side Effects advances in RT. Modeling radiation-induced heart disease has been hampered both by the relatively low incidence of complications and the lack of long-term results from 3D-based thoracic RT. However, in the last decade we have seen increasing development of studies that are based on both long follow-up and large populations, which are evaluating the determinants of the risk and the radiation dose-response. In this chapter, a review of the available dosimetric constraints, an analysis of the interaction between them and other relevant patient and treatment-related factors and models on CV toxicity following RT is presented. The main criteria used in this review are fractionation patterns and diagnosis.
