Human-Robot Collaboration (HRC) is becoming more and more popular in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) thanks to the improved cell productivity that this solution yields. Extensive research has been carried out in the last years focusing on the technical aspects of human-machine interaction, in particular physical safety and productivity. However, when designing HRC systems, mental safety of the operator must also be considered. A literary review highlighted that many articles have been published dealing with the mental effects of humans caused by socially interactive robots but, on the other hand, very little material is available when it comes to defining cobots' design guidelines and control methods aimed at optimizing the psychological aspects of human-robot collaboration.

Abstract
Human-Robot Collaboration (HRC) is becoming more and more popular in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) thanks to the improved cell productivity that this solution yields. Extensive research has been carried out in the last years focusing on the technical aspects of human-machine interaction, in particular physical safety and productivity. However, when designing HRC systems, mental safety of the operator must also be considered. A literary review highlighted that many articles have been published dealing with the mental effects of humans caused by socially interactive robots but, on the other hand, very little material is available when it comes to defining cobots' design guidelines and control methods aimed at optimizing the psychological aspects of human-robot collaboration.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
