The development of methods for the active control of magnetohydrodynamic instabilities and correction oferror fields is mandatory. A substantial modification of the layoutof the RFX-mod device is in progress: the aim of this paper isto assess the potential advantages of the proposed solution with advanced numerical techniques based on integral formulations.
