The article aims to shed light on the biography of Carlo Maria Martini, and namely on the years of his probation (1944-1946), that he spent in Cuneo as novice at Casa San Tomaso, run by the Jesuits. For this purpose, the A. analyses various interviews given by the archbishop Martini and some unpublished sources coming from the Archives of the Istituto Aloysianum of Gallarate as well as from Martini's family Archive.
