Abstract

A first attempt to adopt an automated selection of optimal processing local scales within the LG-Mod algorithm is presented. Aimed at Sea Surface Wind (SSW) directions retrieval from Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data, the novel LG-Mod multi-scale analysis mainly relies on an accuracy maximization criterion, based on the use of the marginal error parameter. Results achieved by the algorithm on both artificial and real SAR images appear very encouraging.
