The pandemic has highlighted how much the needs and desires of the children have been neglected and how closely they are related to the public spaces of the city. The individual and collective bodies of children have always found in common spaces opportunities for growth, health and well-being. It is necessary to redesign the city to both consider the necessary measures to contain the pandemic and ensure the rights of children. Re-imagine the neighborhoods, the green spaces and the schools in an holistic way, including security, educational, and ecological objectives becomes much more than improving the quality of individual parts and requires thinking far beyond the new behaviors. Probably, it is only through an interactive and dialogic planning, sensitive to differences, and able to analyze and interpret the signs of a constantly evolving habitat that the city can overcome one of the most difficult moments of our society and fulfill its role. By presenting historical examples, consolidated methodologies and innovative strategies tested during the pandemic, this paper aims to indicate themes, places, tools and competences for the right of childhood to citizenship and ecological transition.
