We give the balance equations and the Clausius-Duhem inequality on discontinuities of the solution in multi-field theories of continua. The case of discontinuities of the field microstructure is interesting in the study of polycrystals; we conclude with two examples illustrating the case of grain growth and that of localised lattice rotation across the boundary between grains.
