This presentation shows different regulations and standards, which must be taken into account to the approval of vehicles adapted and modified for disabled drivers. The globalized automotive market develops new solutions and sophisticated components, as well as several International, European, National Associations deal with disabilities and driver rehabilitation, accessibility for disabled people, equipment for disables. The EU regulation for any type-approval of Wheelchair accessible vehicle is the EC Directive 2007/46/EC. Nonetheless, technical requirements included the framework regulation are regularly reviewed in order to take account of the results of the harmonization work in progress at the World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations (WP.29) in Geneva and legislative developments in the third countries. This complexity produces a great variety of national approches to the regulations.
