Today, membrane technology represents a well-established technology adopted in several fields of scientific interest, but particularly attracting in hydrogen generation and purification as well as in pre-combustion CO2 capture. This chapter describes how membrane and membrane reactor technology may impact on the hydrogen economy and the environmental protection pursuing the principles of the Process Intensification Strategy, combined to the advantages determined by the utilization of renewable bio derived feedstocks for the fuel processing.
