Long-term eddy covariance observations of particles fluxes in a suburban area

Interactions between land surfaces and the atmosphere have an important role in assessing human impact on the environment. It is very important to investigate the relevant processes governing the transport of heat, water, momentum and pollutants. Despite the increase in field studies in recent years, there is still demand for multi-seasonal flux datasets covering the diverse range of urban/suburban landscapes. Suburban areas represent a significant proportion of the land surface worldwide. The results presented here are the first suburban long period measurements of energy, momentum and particles (also size segregated) fluxes in the south of Italy. Previous urban flux campaigns have taken place in city centre (Contini et al, 2012; Conte et al, 2018). The observational campaign was carried out at the Environmental-Climate Observatory (GAW regional station) from April 2016 to August 2018. The site is located in the suburbs of the town of Lecce (Apulia region) in the south east of Italy.
