The language of the last Leibniz : "Monadologie" vs. "Principes"

The texts and their language will be examine, in order to compare the different styles and forms of expressions which the author used in view of the different readerships - and different degrees of understanding - which the two works presupposed. The goal of the study will be to challenge the historiographical thesis that the Monadologie belongs to a series of texts reflecting a 'secret' Leibnizian philosophy, one quite distinct from the philosophy which may be inferred from his published texts.

Verranno esaminati i testi e il loro linguaggio, al fine di confrontare i diversi stili e forme di espressione che l'autore ha utilizzato in considerazione dei diversi lettori - e diversi gradi di comprensione - che le due opere presupponevano. L'obiettivo dello studio sarà quello di sfidare la tesi storiografica secondo cui le Monadologie appartengono a una serie di testi che riflettono una filosofia leibniziana "segreta", ben distinta dalla filosofia che può essere desunta dai suoi testi pubblicati.
