The goal of the chapter is to elaborate a strategic plan for the sustainable re-use and valorization of the remnants of underground military heritage spread throughout the Green Karst Region (Slovenia). Rather than providing specific solutions for re-use and valorization, the working group elaborated a viable strategic process of development, proposing a toolkit of mechanisms and solutions that could guide the trajectory of decision-making about governance and innovation and characterized since first stages by a marked community engagement. Beyond solutions for re-use and valorization, put along a continuum in terms of conservation, the chapter also proposes a feasible multi-level governance model for this type of underground built heritage.
