The present work aims to investigate the applicability of geopolymeric components as a matrix of composite materials for the structural retrofit of brick masonry. If applicable, they could overcome the issues of severe degradation of mechanical properties with temperature and fire conditions faced by the commonly used epoxy matrices, and could show a better potential for historical masonry than cement or lime-based mortars.

Abstract

The present work aims to investigate the applicability of geopolymeric components as a matrix of composite materials for the structural retrofit of brick masonry. If applicable, they could overcome the issues of severe degradation of mechanical properties with temperature and fire conditions faced by the commonly used epoxy matrices, and could show a better potential for historical masonry than cement or lime-based mortars.
