The new research conducted at the villa of Galeata by the University of Parma fol- lowing the investigations carried out by the University of Bologna since 1998 enrich the knowledge of a very important building, especially for the phase of the ownership of the Gothic king Theodoric. The research offers important contribu- tions to the villa archeology and, at the same time, it receives clarifications and prospects for investigation in relation to the most recent acquisitions in this field. The paper summarizes the results of the most recent research in progress on late antique villas in Italy relating to the later phases, between late antiquity and early medieval times.
