I pithoi a rilievo di età orientalizzante da Priniàs. Considerazioni preliminari

Orientalizing Relief Pithoi from Priniàs. Preliminary remarks 199 We propose in this paper some preliminary remarks on the class of relief figured pithoi coming from the excavations at Priniàs. They are examined both the findings from the old excavations, only partially considered in some complexive studies on cretan pithoi, as well as those from researchs carried out since the 70's to nowadays and partly still unpublished. The new rich evidence seems to confirm the hypothesis of a well characterized atelier that might refer to the ancient town of Priniàs. The examination of the working technique and of the various iconographic subjects enriches the picture known until now and extends the research perspectives.
