The OPEN-CT Project intends to create a platform able to produce, collect, manage and share heterogeneous information, in order to increase community's awareness. The first goal is to provide a powerful and versatile instrument linked to the research needs, related both about the protection, enjoyment, enhancement and the promotion of the Cultural Heritage. The core of the project consists of a relational database specifically structured and placed inside a OpenGIS platform, allowing a full management and analysis of the data on a geographic basis. The data within the platform will cover different areas of interest. The archaeological, monumental, environmental and cultural evidence of Catania are stored with a high level of detail to better understand the complex urban stratification. These data are connected to the information gained from the campaigns of non-invasive investigations (GPR and Geoelectric method) carried out in the urban area aiming at creating a risk map of the city. A video-photographic archive and 3D reconstructions will make possible the fruition and visualisation of invisible cultural heritage. The final output is represented by a WebGIS platform showing the information on geographical base. These data will be contained in a open archive and implemented by the user by his access credentials.
