Brief description: Pleurotus saior caju was grown on olive milling wastewater (OMW), both untreated and chemically detoxicated by phenolics removal through alkaline oxidation. The results showed that the biological value of proteins after growth on untreated OMW was significantly higher compared with Pleurotus grown on treated OMW , suggesting the possibility of improving the biological value of a bio-mass by modifying the composition of the culture substrate.
