The research is based on the inspection performed in June 2002 for for the eradication ofa termite infestation due to two desertic species, Amitermes vilis and Microcerotermes eugnathus in the area of the Saint Catherine Holy Monastery at Mount Sinai - Egypt. The paperdescribes the application of the registered European bait system SentricomTM and the trendof eradication during the first year of monitoring program. The application of bait systemblocked the termite infestation inside the Katholikon (main church) and in the surroundingafter 6 months. Nevertheless, the infestation restarted at perimeter locations around the mainchurch. An explanation of this surprising event is attempted in this paper
