The paper is concerned with integrated programming environments, and, more specifically, with the set of basic tools related to the testing activity. The general ideas underlying the design of an integrated programming environment and their impact upon interactive testing are considered first. The following aspects are then discussed: - integration of testing and development, - source language tools based on various interpreters (including symbolic execution) and target language tools as instrumentation in the run time support, - the ro1e of the project data base in the documentation of the testing activity and its relevance to maintenance, - the distribution of the testing environment between a host and a target machine.

Abstract
The paper is concerned with integrated programming environments, and, more specifically, with the set of basic tools related to the testing activity. The general ideas underlying the design of an integrated programming environment and their impact upon interactive testing are considered first. The following aspects are then discussed: - integration of testing and development, - source language tools based on various interpreters (including symbolic execution) and target language tools as instrumentation in the run time support, - the ro1e of the project data base in the documentation of the testing activity and its relevance to maintenance, - the distribution of the testing environment between a host and a target machine.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
