In this paper some experiments on the use of microwaves for detecting targets in watery media are reported. The work is to be considered a preliminary "in vitro" investigation for a successive use of microwave techniques to detect the displacements of large blood vessels during the cardiac cycle. For this purpose two new direct contact applicators are proposed and experimented; finally a simple receiving structure is studied which allows to maximize its detection sensibility for each distance of the target.

Abstract
In this paper some experiments on the use of microwaves for detecting targets in watery media are reported. The work is to be considered a preliminary "in vitro" investigation for a successive use of microwave techniques to detect the displacements of large blood vessels during the cardiac cycle. For this purpose two new direct contact applicators are proposed and experimented; finally a simple receiving structure is studied which allows to maximize its detection sensibility for each distance of the target.File in questo prodotto:
