Abstract

Analytical chemistry group. What we are able to do. Sampling of aerosol: gas+particulate, PM10, PM2.5, different size at the same moment. Various kind of analysis (heavy metals, organic micropollutants, major ions), including treatment of supports, using also a clean room, weighting producedures with humidity control, analysis with ICP-MS for metals, GC-MS and HPLC-MS for organic compounds, IC-MS for ions. Data elaboration with statistical techniques, for the identification of pollution sources and the quantification of the contribution of the sources to total pollution. Previous projects: POSEIDON, for the assessment of the impact of ship traffic to particulate matter; within ECOMOBILITY we are facing a new challenge: the nanoparticles. Role in ECOMOBILITY, as Leader Partner: a) Coordinates and manages the project implementation, b) Have responsibility for outputs, results and good implementation of the project, c) Monitors project progress towards the set objectives and work plan, d) Is responsible of the communication flow between the partnership and the Programme (mainly with the JS and the MA), e) Prepare the project periodic reporting (using information given by PPs) and submit it within the deadlines, f) Ensures that the expenditure presented by all partners has been verified by the controllers, g) Receives the reimbursed amount from the Programme on behalf of the entire partnership and transfers the due amounts to its partners as soon as possible without deducting any amount or specific charge. Involvement in ECOMOBILITY, as Environmental unit, in WP3 (Assessment of the effect of ship traffic to particulate matter): Act 3.1 Experimental activities in Venice and specifically sampling of aerosol using a cascade impactor, analysis of heavy metals, organic micropollutants, organic tracers and major ions; Act 3.3 Assessment of the impact of shipping to particulate matter in Venice and Rijeka.
