There are three properties that can be proposed as characteristic of the original-copy relation and at the same time and constitutive of value differences between both: 1) the specific aura the the original is said to possess in contrast to its copies; 2) the singularity of the original in contrast to the potential multiciplity of its copies; and 3) its uniqueness. In the last decades, these three properties seem insufficient to establish a value gradient between original and copy.

Abstract

There are three properties that can be proposed as characteristic of the original-copy relation and at the same time and constitutive of value differences between both: 1) the specific aura the the original is said to possess in contrast to its copies; 2) the singularity of the original in contrast to the potential multiciplity of its copies; and 3) its uniqueness. In the last decades, these three properties seem insufficient to establish a value gradient between original and copy.
