The paper presents the methodological pipeline regarding digital documentation and 3D reconstruction of cultural artifacts, taking in consideration different case studies (architectures and archaeological remains acquired in the Appia Archaeological park, the physical model of Rome in the Constantine age preserved in Museo della Civiltà Romana). The different phases of work, techniques, optimization procedures are described, up to digital restoration and virtual reconstruction addressed to virtual reality environments.
