The 12.5-14.5 Hz band activity of the sleep EEG has been examined in 8 normal subjects. Its features have been studied both in stationary conditions during a constant sleep stage and as a function of different sleep stages. Three 'hypnographic' automatically computed parameters relating to the 12.5-14.5 Hz band activity are introduced; the time course of these parameters is very close to that of the hypnogram constructed by visual analysis.

Abstract

The 12.5-14.5 Hz band activity of the sleep EEG has been examined in 8 normal subjects. Its features have been studied both in stationary conditions during a constant sleep stage and as a function of different sleep stages. Three 'hypnographic' automatically computed parameters relating to the 12.5-14.5 Hz band activity are introduced; the time course of these parameters is very close to that of the hypnogram constructed by visual analysis.
