Echinochloa crus-galli is a summer crop weed, whose long emergence period and fast growth makes its control difficult. In this work the emergence of several populations of this weed was studied in three locations: Lleida, Legnaro (Italy) and Ås (Norway). Two common populations plus three local populations in each site were sown. Sowing was performed in pots in October 2015 by disturbing the upper 4 cm of the soil. 200 seeds were sown per pot, with five replications. Sampling was done every 2-3 days, from late March to July-September. Emergences varied significantly between localities. The common population of Norway showed fewer emergences in Lleida and Legnaro, but it was the most abundant in Ås, where the Italian population emerged to a lesser extent. The emergence rate was similar between the different populations.
