The properties of concurrent programming languages, adopting a shared memory system model, are pointed-out with particular reference to resource allocation, and access control mechanisms. FirstIy, some of the most used resource management strategies are illustrated; then an unified set of linguistic mechanisms for resource allocation, access control and synchronization, to be implemented in an object oriented language, are introduced. At last it is shown how the proposed mechanisms allow a very flexible range of resource management strategies and a complete compile time access control.
