This document is an internal deliverable of the task 3.1 (Material characterization) included in WP3 (solar calcination). The document is a report of the characterization work carried out for the thermochemical energy storage materials proposed for SOCRATCES, which are limestones (CaCO3) and dolomites (CaMg(CO3)2). In a first stage, different suppliers were contacted (and, in some cases, visited) to obtain suitable samples with different properties such as particle size distribution. Thus, a set of 15 different samples were obtained. Samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence chemical analysis (XRF), particle size distribution (PSD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), specific surface area analysis and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) tests.
