Abstract

We theoretically study the impact on the Relative Intensity Noise of multi-transverse mode VCSELs for high-speed datacom applications. The model is based on dynamical equations for the VCSEL modes and carriers with full transverse resolution, which is achieved by expanding the variables in terms of Gauss-Laguerre modes. The noise is introduced in the dynamical system by the corresponding Langevin sources.
