Following the JRC B.4 decision to postpone the SELFIE pilot to September 2017, CNR-ITD and INDIRE foresaw the opportunity to organize face to face (f2f) workshops with pilot schools to keep them involved and focused on DigCompOrg4schools activities before the summer break. Importantly, these f2f workshops represented a critical means also for discussing with schools about the specific nature of SELFIE process and reflecting on contextual factors that could facilitate or hinder the uptake of SELFIE within the Italian educational system, taking into consideration the self-evaluation process recently established at national level by the Ministry of Education. In 2013, the government decided to proceed with the construction of the National Evaluation System (SNV) (Decision no. 72 08/03/2013). The SNV is coordinated by INVALSI (National Institute for the Evaluation of the Educational System) and includes INDIRE and the board of inspectors that are expected to work with school in the self-evaluation process and the design of school improvement plans . Notably, one of the main innovations introduced through the SNV is the Self-evaluation Annual Report (RAV) , which schools are obliged to complete every year since 2014 providing a self-evaluation of their performance and setting improvement actions and targets to be achieved (then detailed in the Improvement Plan - PdM ). The RAV report is composed of five areas: context and resource; output; processes; self-evaluation process; priorities identification; each area is completed with data based on specific indicators (49 in total) and is supplemented by additional information aimed to capture the peculiarity of each school. External evaluation (implemented by 2016) forms also part of the process through audit visits made by inspectors from the Ministry of Education dedicated to this specific aim. The PdM model designed by INDIRE aims at managing the Improvement Process, which starts from the contents of the RAV and includes different phases: planning, development of actions, verification and documentation. The school can choose to share the PdM inside or outside their community. Moreover, PdM is integrated into the three-year plan of the educational offer (IT: Piano Triennale dell'Offerta Formativa; PTOF), that represents the fundamental document constitutive of the cultural and project identity of the school. Against this policy background, CNR-ITD and INDIRE have started to discuss and reflect on synergies between RAV/PdM and SELFIE tool. An internal webinar was conducted by an INDIRE PdM expert to explore more in depth key features and actual implementations of both RAV and PdM in Italian primary and secondary schools. Moreover, CNR-ITD is mapping SELFIE and RAV's key areas and indicators in oder to gain a better understanting of complementarities between the two approaches. Results from f2f workshops contributed also to shed lights on synergies between SNV and SELFIE process.
