The application of polymeric membranes containing nanomaterials (NMs) represents an interesting and advanced approach to preparing tailored membranes and overcoming the biofouling problems. The presence of the NMs in the polymeric matrix allows getting over some membrane limitations as fouling, microbial growth, flux reduction, and lower lifetime. The most common nanoparticles (NPs) for the preparation of these nanocomposite membranes, such as carbon nanotubes (CNTs), titanium oxide (TiO2), silver (Ag), and graphene oxide (GO), have been reported and discussed in the chapter. In particular, the present chapter highlights the NMs properties, membranes production, and their applications in different fields of water and wastewater treatment.
