Abstract

At least from the beginning of the third millennium BC, Southern Mesopotamia (especially the Diyala region) and Luristan share common aspects of material culture, like the adoption of specialized pottery and glyptics. In particular, between the central highlands of Pusht-i Kuh and the Zagros foothills, the adoption of Old Babylonian cylinder seals poses some questions about the use and meaning of these artefacts. Considering the historical and archaeological evidences, this paper consider the role the imagery might have within a different social framework.
