The paper presents an overview of the marble supply strategies in hierapolis from a diachronic prospective, evaluating the results of the archaeometric analyses carried out on artefacts from the city. in particular, the study focuses on the public building sites between the Augustan and the Severan ages, where extensive use of local marbles was identified; on the contrary, there were very limited imported materials, which came from the denizli, Aphrodisian and especially dokimeian quarries. The research also concerns a diachronic evaluation of the exploitation of the local quarries of Marmar Tepe, hierapolis-Gök dere and Thiounta in order to produce architectural elements for the building sites and sarcophagi of the necropolises.
