Abstract

This chapter is dedicated to the design and fabrication technologies of the most popular and novel types of nanomaterial-based biosensors. It offers an overview of the variegated approaches for biosensor design in various applications ranging from electrochemical, optical, and acoustic detection methods. The review emphasizes, also, the synthesis, properties, and prospective of the nanostructured materials and their implications on performances of biosensors to improve detection limit, sensitivity, and selectivity. In summary, the chapter provides fundamental knowledge, recent researches, and future trends for biosensor technology based on nanomaterials aiming to a comprehensive vision on this fast-growing scenario. © 2019 Elsevier Inc.
