The authors report some cases of Ichthyophonus infection in reared gilthead seabreams. The different lesions at spleen, kidney, liver, swimbladder, serous membrane and skeletal muscle were, microscopically, characterised by Grocott positive, Gram and Ziehl-Neelsen negative granulomatous lesions, around resting spores. Finally, the authors discuss the potential application of a macroscopic spleen inspection in order to make a rapid screening for this disease, according to the general obligations provided in the EU 852/04 Regulation for the Primary Production.

Abstract
The authors report some cases of Ichthyophonus infection in reared gilthead seabreams. The different lesions at spleen, kidney, liver, swimbladder, serous membrane and skeletal muscle were, microscopically, characterised by Grocott positive, Gram and Ziehl-Neelsen negative granulomatous lesions, around resting spores. Finally, the authors discuss the potential application of a macroscopic spleen inspection in order to make a rapid screening for this disease, according to the general obligations provided in the EU 852/04 Regulation for the Primary Production.File in questo prodotto:
