Their optical properties are tuneable by changing the transmittance of embedded quantum wells by application of external bias. Abstract

Semiconductor Bragg mirrors with embedded quantum wells possess a hyperbolic dispersion of their eigen-modes that is typical for hyperbolic metamaterials. Their optical properties are tuneable by changing the transmittance of embedded quantum wells by application of external bias.
