The study of toponymy has a very important role within the geo- graphical sphere: in fact, since the end of the 19th century, geography has been dealing with place names. This kind of interest has been rising and falling throughout the 20th century, until the end of 1900, when its relevance increased again. Geography has experimented many different approaches and ways of interpretation of the to- ponymic corpus; above all, the geo-historical studies acknowledged the value of sources, highlighting the importance of toponyms for the expression of culture and heritage, because toponymy can reflect physical and human characters in every field: orography, hydrography, building forms, agricultural practices, road network etc. With this in mind, the aim of this contribution is considering the numerous toponyms inside the cadastral registers realised during the Kingdom of Naples, in the territories concerning Tagliacozzo, between the second half of 18th century and the French decade. The main objective is to identify place names to reconstruct the traditional aspects of a mostly rural and farming economy, through a perspective that aims to the valorisation of historical and territorial roots.
