Security of IoT micro-controllers is a crucial topic, due to the reduced capabilities that characterize such devices. In this paper, we analyze the ESP8266 module to identify its weaknesses, hence focusing on the execution of replay attacks. We then propose a security solution able to protect the module from such threats, by considering the computational limits of the ESP8266. After appropriate testing, we find that the proposed method is able to counter replay attacks exploiting the ESP8266 module.

Abstract
Security of IoT micro-controllers is a crucial topic, due to the reduced capabilities that characterize such devices. In this paper, we analyze the ESP8266 module to identify its weaknesses, hence focusing on the execution of replay attacks. We then propose a security solution able to protect the module from such threats, by considering the computational limits of the ESP8266. After appropriate testing, we find that the proposed method is able to counter replay attacks exploiting the ESP8266 module.File in questo prodotto:
