This deliverable reports the results of the desk research on the state-of-the-art of Computational Thinking (CT) in compulsory education. The desk research comprises a systematic review of academic and grey literature and a survey with policy makers from EU member states and beyond. The objectives, methodology and procedures for the systematic literature review are discussed in Section 2. Section 3 gives an overview of the field, outlining the main aspects that have emerged from analysing the collected academic and grey literature. Section 4 presents the objectives and the data collection and analysis process of the survey of CT-related policy initiatives. The key findings from the survey are discussed in Section 5 of this Deliverable. The initial list of CT-related terminology, as derived from the literature and the survey, is provided in Section 6. The filled-in review matrix and the complete survey form an integral part of this deliverable (Annex 1 and Annex 2) and are included as an excel and a PDF file, respectively. The documents (reports, curricula, guidelines, etc.) identified through the survey are also provided in a PDF file (Annex 3). Finally, the 2016 JRC CompuThink report citations also form part of this deliverable and are included as a PDF file (Annex 4).
