The present paper offers some reflections on the attestation in the western Phoenician Mediterranean of certain deities -namely Pumay, Pygmalion, Eshmun-Melqart and Reshef-Melqart- which may testify to connections of some kind with Cyprus. Its main goal is to provide food for thought on the contribution that the island culture may have made to the formation and development of the Phoenician West.
