The contribution examines the history of the Bouchard and Gravier bookshop in Rome, the main outlet for French books in the Papal city in the eighteenth century. As a result of the discovery of a large number of unpublished documents it is now possible to paint a more complete picture than has hitherto been possible of the lives and careers of the two owners, who came from the Alpine valleys of the Dauphiné, and to provide a more detailed account of the commercial activities of the bookshop, which was the Roman branch of an international network built up by the two booksellers.

Abstract
The contribution examines the history of the Bouchard and Gravier bookshop in Rome, the main outlet for French books in the Papal city in the eighteenth century. As a result of the discovery of a large number of unpublished documents it is now possible to paint a more complete picture than has hitherto been possible of the lives and careers of the two owners, who came from the Alpine valleys of the Dauphiné, and to provide a more detailed account of the commercial activities of the bookshop, which was the Roman branch of an international network built up by the two booksellers.File in questo prodotto:
