The Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy. An Introduction

At the end of 2020, in full covid-19 pandemic, the European Commission published its strategy for putting European transport on track for the future, the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy. The Strategy is in form of Communication [COM (2020) 789 Final] from the European Commission to the European Parliament, the Council, the European Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions It includes 82 initiatives that will guide EC work for the period 2021-2024. This strategy lays the foundation for how the EU transport system can achieve its green and digital transformation and become more resilient to future crises. Its objective is a 90% cut in emissions by 2050, delivered by a smart, competitive, safe, accessible and affordable transport system. This presentation addresses its vision, milestones, objectives, and plans.
