Based on an ongoing research in Montenegro, whose territory corresponds to a sector of the Praevalitana province of the Diocletian re- organization, the article presents a collection of available data on urban and rural housing in the territories of the province of Dalmatia in Late Antiquity. Due to the lack of specific research on this topic, there are only few cases of in-depth studies on late antique villas and domus with the exception of some high-level residences (such as, first of all, the Diocletian's palace in Split, the villa of Mogorjelo and the palatiolum on the Meleda island). Nevertheless, an overall exam of the published documentation on cities and territories can offer significant elements to understand the different forms of housing in Dalmatia between the 4th and 6th centuries.
