Una biblioteca senza pareti: la Bibliotheca Scriptorum Societatis Iesu (secoli XVII-XX)

The author examines the circumstances that during the 1700s led to the non-publication of the Bibliotheca Scriptorum Societatis Iesu (BSSI), when three editions had been printed in the previous century. A comparative analysis of the paratexts of each edition of the BSSI is then carried out, starting from the first by Pedro Ribadeneira (1608) to the last by Carlos Sommervogel (1890-1932). This analysis allows to outline how the changes in the paratexts have corresponded to different mo- ments in the history of the Society of Jesus.

Nel contributo sono illustrate le circostanze che portarono alla mancata pubblicazione della Bibliotheca Scriptorum Societatis Iesu (BSSI) nel corso del Settecento, dopo che nel secolo precedente ne erano state stampate ben tre edizioni. Viene poi svolta un'analisi comparativa dei paratesti di tutte le edizioni della BSSI, a partire dalla prima di Pedro Ribadeneira (1608) sino all'ultima di Carlos Sommervogel (1890-1932). Quest'a- nalisi consente di osservare come i cambiamenti nei paratesti abbiano corrisposto a differenti momenti della storia della Compagnia di Gesù.
