Photochromic FRET (pcFRET) combines the super-resolution capability of FRET technique with the photomodulation of the optical characteristics of the acceptor chromophore, in view of obtaining a fast and reliable assessment of molecular binding in solution spectroscopy and fluorescence microscopy.
