The current document provides a detailed overview of the activity and presents the results of the Walking Interviews conducted during the Research Residency at Pianpicollo Selvatico from July 16 to 20, 2022. In these interviews, young researchers were examined using a qualitative approach known as a walking interview, which integrates physical movement with in-depth reflections on their personal, professional, and research experiences. The questions asked during the interview aimed to explore the motivations that led the participants to pursue a career in research, their perception of research work, and the relationship between theory and practice in their research activities. Additionally, specific questions were posed regarding collaboration with other researchers and external actors in the research world, delving into the motivations and importance of such collaborations. Particular emphasis was placed on the participants' perception of nature, with questions aimed at exploring how nature influences their motivation for research. Further insights were gained through questions about personal experiences related to life in rural settings, cultivation of gardens, and relationships with non-human elements. The primary objective was to understand if and how these experiences influence the perception of research and the connection with the surrounding environment. Lastly, a key question was asked about the perspective on interdisciplinary research, yielding responses that provided significant insights into the participants' perception of the importance and practicality of research that transcends disciplinary boundaries. The analysis of the results revealed a rich and multifaceted picture of the perspectives, experiences, and motivations of the participating young researchers, contributing to a deeper understanding of the relationship between research, personal experiences, and the environmental context.
