From the perspective of comparative law, this article analyzes howmuch the new Code Civil of Puerto Rico contributes to the development andconsolidation of the Romanistic legal system, reaffirming its roots in Roman law.Additionally, it evaluates how the Code adapts to the new paradigms of privatelaw in the early 21st century and aligns itself with avant-garde civil codificationsin many of its norms. All this, despite being a system strongly besieged by theCommon Law.
