During the excavations carried out at the Roman Villa of Cottanello (RI) by the Sapienza University of Rome (2010-2012) and by the Institute for Studies on the Ancient Mediterranean, now Institute of Heritage Science, CNR (2013-2014), much Late Antique (4th - 6th century AD) pottery was found, especially amphorae and cooking and coarse wares. The aim of this study is to examine the materials both from a typological and archaeometrical point of view (through XRD and optical microscopy thin section analysis), taking into account also the documentation of the first excavations of the villa, carried out in 1969-1973. The results allow us not only to better understand the Late Antique phase of the villa, till now not investigated, but above all they enrich our knowledge of the late Roman pottery in the Sabina Tiberina area.

Abstract
The results allow us not only to better understand the Late Antique phase of the villa, till now not investigated, but above all they enrich our knowledge of the late Roman pottery in the Sabina Tiberina area.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
