DOCLEA CRISTIANA: NUOVI PROGETTI DI RICERCA E STUDI SULLE CHIESE

Since 2017, the Institute of Heritage Science of the National Research Council of Italy together with the Historical Institute of the University of Montenegro has been conducting multidisciplinary archaeological research with the aim of increasing the knowledge and the enhancement of the Roman city of Doclea in Montenegro. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the early Christian church- es brought to light in the east area of the monumental center of the Roman city by a British mission directed by J. A. R. Munro in 1893. Starting from the bibliographic and archival documentation, here we present for the first time the data that we obtained from a direct analysis of the archaeological remains, and we propose a new plan as well as some reconstructive hypotheses of the churches'struc-tures.

L'Istituto di Scienze del Patrimonio Culturale del Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche e l'Istituto Storico dell'Università del Montenegro conducono dal 2017 indagini archeologiche multidisciplinari finalizzate alla conoscenza ed alla valorizzazione della città romana di Doclea in Montenegro, nell'am- bito di progetti congiunti di ricerca. Un'attenzione particolare è stata riservata all'analisi delle chiese paleocristiane portate alla luce da una missione inglese diretta da J. A. R. Munro nel 1893 nella zona ad est del centro monumentale di epoca romana. Partendo dall'esame della documentazione bibliogra- fica e d'archivio esistente, si presentano in questa sede per la prima volta i dati ricavati da un esame diretto delle strutture, di cui si propongono un nuovo rilievo e alcune ipotesi ricostruttive degli alzati.
