ORQUID challenge was testing the possibility of using single organic molecules as the interface between the three quanta (photons, electrons, phonons) so that they can work together as required. By developing these three interfaces on a common platform, wThe idea of the project was to exploit organic materials, that brings the advantage of an unmatched flexibility and scalability in the synthesis process. Their impact has been huge in other field of science such as optoelectronic devices or biochemistry and we believe that manipulating them at the single molecule level, they will bring a change also in quantum technologiese created a hybrid and scalable system which might have strong impact on other field of science such as optoelectronic devices or biochemistry. In particular in ORQUID project partners have demonstrated their potential for applications in quantum sensing and as scalable single photon sources for quantum communication and photonic quantum simulation
